Set of 12 hand-painted Nativity figurines by Dellarte Ceramiche, 20 cm.
This Nativity Scene is made of 12 finely crafted figurines in Faenza ceramic, each individually handmade and decorated. The set includes the Holy Family, the Three Wise Men, two shepherds, a washerwoman, donkey and ox, a bagpiper, a rare figure in traditional Nativity Scenes, adding an authentic touch of Italian folklore.
Each figurine is born from the pouring of slip into plaster molds, following a meticulous artisanal process. After an initial firing at 1000°C, the statues are decorated with non-toxic glazes, then immersed in clear glaze for a glossy and protective finish. The second firing at 920°C sets the colours, while the third at 720°C applies the 10% gold details, making each figurine precious and luminous.
Unlike many ceramic Nativity Scene, this set stands out for its rich and harmonious narrative composition, delicate facial expressions, making it suitable for both classic and modern environments.
A creation of the Dellarte Ceramics workshop, founded by Paola Zaghi, a professor and expert in art history, this Nativity Scene embodies a synthesis of art, faith, and Italian craftsmanship.
