Around 250 AD, the emperor Decius accused seven young men from Ephesus of following Christianity. Between interrogatories, the men were able to flee and hide in a cave, where they were discovered and walled up alive by the emperor. They all lay down and fall asleep. When they woke up, surrounded by stunned faces, they found out a shepherd had broken down the wall to use the cave for his animals and discovered the young men. They had been sleeping for about 200 years, till 450 AD, the era of the emperor Theodosius II.
