This icon depicts the mystery of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, following traditional iconography. In the centre, the Virgin Mary rests on a wide mantle in front of the cave, where the Baby wrapped in white swaddling clothes lies in the manger, illuminated by the Bethlehem star.
