Neapolitan Nativity Scene complete with figurines with actual heights ranging from 6 to 10 cm. The scene features lights, a working mill and a functioning fountain.
The Nativity is arranged as a village set into cork-made rocky hills, clearly articulated on three levels connected by a staircase. On the lowest level a cork floor is modelled to resemble the arid ground typical of the land where Jesus was born; many figurines populate this level, conveying the impression of a bustling village full of daily life. On the middle level there are fewer figures, but the eye is immediately drawn to an oven with an internal bulb that emits an intermittent red light, simulating dancing flames. From this level a working waterfall runs alongside the staircase that links the two lower tiers. On the top level stands a working mill whose blades turn slowly.
The setting includes several houses. The moving elements (the mill, the waterfall and the oven) together with the lighting make the scene highly realistic and, combined, create a magical and evocative atmosphere, as if a small living world were contained within the Nativity.
Five 220V European plugs on the back power the animated features and the lighting.
The Nativity has been made by experienced craftsmen who have worked every detail by hand, from the houses to the sewn garments of the figurines.
