This complex and highly detailed decoration depicts an ancient village, inspired by the Middle East, perfect as a central setting for a Nativity Scene.

The entire scene features irregular and multi-level architecture, with cubic buildings lining narrow alleyways, creating a sense of depth and urban complexity. The house facades simulate a worn and cracked white-sand plaster typical of arid and ancient environments, with flat roofs and some rounded domes accentuating the architectural style.

A visually striking element is the large ruined arch on one side, framing an inner square. The scene is masterfully illuminated: a warm orange-toned internal light filters through small openings in the houses and the large arch, creating a strong contrast with the day and enhancing the atmospheric and nocturnal feel of the scene.

The ground setting is dry soil, scattered with granular material, enriched with dark vegetation details and patches of red-purple tufts adding a touch of colour and desert realism. Also noteworthy is the illuminated house fire, or the important detail of the fountain high among the houses, operated by a water pump.
