Altar Cross of Hope by Bottega Tifernate, Jubilee 2025. The Altar Cross of Hope, standing at 15.7 in, is a crucifix designed by master Stefano Lazzari of Bottega Tifernate, featuring a double-sided design encompassing symbols and values tied to the theme of the 2025 Jubilee, whose motto is "Pilgrims of Hope". The altar cross, inspired by the layout of St. Peter's Basilica and Square, depicts Christ on the front side. He is not portrayed in suffering, but as the one who serenely gave his life for humanity. At its feet lies Mount Golgotha, the symbolic place of the Crucifixion, standing on a base with a diameter of 4.7 in. On the reverse side, a pilgrim is depicted entering symbolically St. Peter's Square at the end of a journey of hope and salvation, symbolising the path towards redemption. For its creation, Bottega Tifernate enlisted sculptor Fausto Schirato for modeling and founder Marino Vigolo for casting. Schirato meticulously crafts every detail of the plaster model by hand with extreme precision. The chosen casting technique is the lost-wax method, considered the most valuable, where each piece is individually produced. After preparing a rubber from which the waxes are obtained, these are immersed in plaster inside a cylinder, then cooked at high temperatures until the wax melts. Next, molten brass is poured into the cylinder to create the cross. The model obtained is then finished and engraved. Each piece is painted and burnished individually, and the patination enhances the chiaroscuro of the modeling. A protective coating is applied to preserve the work over time and eternalise its significance. Each cross comes with a certificate of authenticity with a QR code linked to further information about the Cross and Bottega Tifernate. Produced in Italy by Bottega Trifernate, the cross can be used as an altar crucifix.
