Plaque of the Virgin Mary and dead Christ in bronze 50x15 cm for EXTERNAL USE.Fine object made by an artistic foundry specialised in bronze casting and renowned for its production of funerary objects. The technique used to make this plaque is called sand casting and is one of the most renowned procedures in the field of metal working. First, a cast is made using a special kind of sand, called foundry sand, based on a wooden or resin model of the statue. Then, molten bronze is poured into the cast, which will be shattered at the end of the process so as to extract the piece. Once the bronze model is obtained, it is worked, finished, polished and smoothened.
Since bronze is a live material, it tends to darken over the years (if exposed outdoors): this is a peculiar feature of bronze, which will make this product beautiful and unique as times goes by.
