This is what Giuseppe Allamano did, the "Salgari of the Mission" who, although he never left Italy, founded one of the most important missionary institutes in the world: the Missionaries of the Consolata. The figure of Allamano is at the centre of the fiction La Partenza (The Departure): the protagonist, Tullio, who is now an old man, remembers that when he was 18 years old he met him... He wanted to leave as a missionary, but didn't have the courage... and now he regrets it! Moreover, his son Bruno, a famous actor, has to play Allamano himself in the theatre! Him again... it's a torture!
