In 1612 the prince Dimitri Pozharsky and Mikhail Kutuzov brought with them a copy of the icon during the war to free Moscow from the Poles.

Ancient Russian icon, Mother of God of Kazan, golden bronze, 19th cent., 13x11.2 in. Reproduction of the icon of Our Lady of Kazan, originally founded in 1579 in Kazan after it appeared three times to a young girl to show her where to find it.
In 1612 the prince Dimitri Pozharsky and Mikhail Kutuzov brought with them a copy of the icon during the war to free Moscow from the Poles.
