The icon is celebrated on July 8 (day of its apparation) and October 22 (day of Moscow liberation from the Poles). During these festivities, the icon was carried arond the city walls, from the Kremlin Cathedral of the Dormition to the Cathedral of Kazan.
At the beginning of the 19th century, a cathedral was built for the icon on the Nevsky Prospect.
