Russian travelling triptych, Life-giving Spring, Russia, 18th century 20x20 cm. Antique Russian triptych of the late 18th century, from Yaroslav, made of a bronze frame with central fabric and icons painted on wood.
In the centre, we find the Mother of God Life-giving Spring, with the Child on her lap, holding him tight. The two figures are standing in a decorated fountain, symbolising that the Virgin is the life-giving spring of the Saviour and of the whole humanity.

Russian travelling triptych, Life-giving Spring, Russia, 18th century 20x20 cm. Antique Russian triptych of the late 18th century, from Yaroslav, made of a bronze frame with central fabric and icons painted on wood.
In the centre, we find the Mother of God Life-giving Spring, with the Child on her lap, holding him tight. The two figures are standing in a decorated fountain, symbolising that the Virgin is the life-giving spring of the Saviour and of the whole humanity.
The two icons on the side represent an Guardian angel, dressed in white with a Byzantin cross and a lance in his hands, and Saint Helen, emperor Constantine's mother, well known for her commitment in helping the poors and in finding the real cross of Jesus in Palestine.
This triptych mesures 17x21 cm when open and 17x10.5 cm when close.
