Its history is rooted in Byzantine art and the Marian devotion of the Catholic Church. The icon was painted in the 13th century in Crete, Greece. The image depicts the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus in her arms, Mary wears a red dress and a dark blue coat with golden stars, symbols of her royalty and divinity. Jesus, on the other hand, is dressed in a beige dress. The hand of Mary tightly holds that of the child, a symbol of her protection and guidance. On the back of the icon, there is the certification of Byzantine icon certifying production in Greece according to the old traditional Byzantine style on canvas and old wood.
