Antique quadripartite Marian icon, Russia, 19th century, restored, 17x14 in. Antique Russian icon with four Marian images, painted by hand in the 19th century and restored in the 21th.
On the top left, is depicted the image of the Theotokos, Softener of Evil Hearts, with a blessing Infant Jesus.
On the top right, the icon shows the Mother of God Assuage my Sorrows, with the Virgin Mary bearing all the sufferings of humanity, her right hand on her temple and a sed and thougthful expression on her face.
On the bottom, are represented two different images of the Theotokos, Hope of the Sinners, whose original icon is worshipped as an antique miraculous relic.
The most relevant peculiarities of this image are: the bustlength portrait of the Mother of God, the Infant's cheek touching his Mother's and the arms of the Virgin creating a circle around Jesus.
Icon painted by hand with egg tempera on wood and levkas, delivered with guarantee certificate and a report signed by a certified expert in a blue velvet case.
