Russian icon Mary Unfading Blossom, XIX century panel.
The icon type of the Unfading Blossom comes from an image miraculously worshipped in the Alexeevskij monastery. Its first mentioning dates back in 1757, but it is likely to have been there for a long time. Today, traces of this original icon have been lost.
In the middle of the composition we find the Virgin with Infant Jesus dressed in regal garments. Mary is holding a scepter with blossoms and flowers, related to the name of the icon.
