Icon of the Mother of God of Kasperov, 7x6 in, painted in Romania, antique style.
Hand painted by expert iconographers trained in the Byzantine tradition, the image represents the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus close to her cheek in a gesture of deep tenderness and protection.
The original icon bears the inscription "Glorious souvenir of the millennium of existence of Russia", a testimony to its historical and spiritual significance. Numerous replicas of this iconographic type exist; tradition holds that the icon arrived from Transylvania to the Korsun region, brought by a Serbian devotee in the 16th century.
In February 1840, while the noblewoman Kasperavaja, owner of the village of Novo Ivanovki, prayed before the icon, the image was miraculously renewed, becoming suddenly radiant. In memory of this event, the icon is solemnly honoured on the Marian feasts of 1 October and 29 June.
The icon is delivered in an elegant red velvet case lined in white satin, designed to protect and enhance it.
A work of notable devotional and historical value, ideal for personal prayer, for spaces dedicated to the faith or as a distinguished religious gift.
