The icon depicts the Virgin Eleusa, also known as Mother of God of Tenderness. It is a variation of the older icon of Our Lady of the Way, differing in the position of the Madonna and of Jesus Child. The Child gently brings his face close to his Mother's, holding her hand. Mary cradles the child in her left arm, bending lovingly towards him, often touching him with her other hand.

Icon entirely handcrafted, following ancient techniques of Byzantine iconography, as is evidenced by the certificate on the back.
The icon is accompanied by a box lined with light blue satin internally and blue velvet externally. Made in Romania.

Icona molto espressiva, ripete fedelmente l'iconografia classima, ma allo stesso tempo i tratti con cui è dipinta la fanno riconoscere come opera "moderna". La grandezza è tale da permettere o un'esposizione su un altare per la venerazione, oppure riesce a "riempire" una parete di media grandezza.
