Hand-painted Russian icon of Our Lady of Tenderness 5.5x3.9 inches. In this icon, the Mother of God holds the Infant Jesus with both arms and wears a red dress, symbol of royalty, lined with green, symbol of humanity. The Holy Virgin has a sad and tender expression, while the Infant holds his Mother tight, testifying the divine love.
This icon was painted by hand according to Byzantine-Russian school rules on lime hardwood and covered with gold leaf.
