Our Lady of Jachroma appeared as an image to the Saint Cosmas the monk during a pilgrimage in his younger age and healed the old man travelling with the young monk, who has touched it. After that, Saint Cosmas brought the icon to the Kiev Monastery of the Caves where he built a church in honour of the Dormition of the Mother of God and installed the icon there.
