In 1664, a monk named Nile who repetedly passed by the Theotokos icon with his torch, blackening it without even noticing, became suddenly blind. Remembering the previous remarks of the Virgin about his behaviour, the monk recognised his fault and prayed in front of the icon to heal him till the Virgin answered his prayers.
