Russian icon of the Virgin Mary breastfeeding Jesus. In the Byzantine culture during the XIII century the Madonna lactans became widespread in Europe. In the popular culture the Virgin Mary nursing Jesus icon is a symbol of fertility.
Icon hand painted in Russia by the local craftsmen. This icon comes in an elegant blue velvet box and is provided with the certificate of authenticity.
