Russian icon of Vladimir Mother of God, painted with antique finish, 36x30 cm. Modern icon of the Vladimir Mother of God from the 13th century, painted by hand on a 36x30 cm lime wood board in Russia following the rules of Byzantine-Russian school. The icon is covered in gold leaf.
The icon represents the famous Virgin of Vladimir where Mary holds her Son with her right arm and lays her cheek on his. This scene represents the relationship full of tenderness and love between Mother and Son.
The Virgin symbolises the Church of Christ and that's why this icon expresses the fullness of love between God and humanity, which is possible only into the bosom of Mother Church. The unity of heavenly and earthly is shown by the contact between the characters' faces and the union of the halos.
On the back of the icon there are a ring to hang the picture and the guarantee certificate.
