From the sixth hour, darkness fell over the land until the ninth hour. Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" (My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?). Then, one of those who crucified him took a sponge, filled it with the sour wine, and put it on a stick to make him drink it. Jesus cried out again and breathed his last.
