However, for Christianity, this title cannot be given to earthly creations, and it is precisely because of the popularity of this image that there are various misconceptions about its figure.

Essentially, a guardian angel is the representative of the Lord for human affairs and is designed by God himself to protect and guide each of us on the right path.
One mistaken belief concerns his appearance. Most of the Orthodox Christian clergy share the idea that the guardian angel appears to a person after the sacrament of Baptism. However, the Sacred Scriptures deny this theory.
According to the Sacred Scriptures, everyone receives the protection of the Guardian Angel from birth, regardless of religion and the reception of the sacrament. Regarding the canonical symbolism, Orthodox tradition portrays the image of the Guardian Angel with a harmonious, symmetrical face, devoid of individual features or signs of age or gender.
Additionally, according to canonical tradition, he is presented with a halo (sign of celestial origin) and usually white wings. He may hold a cross (sign of God's blessing) in one hand and a sword (symbol of protection) in the other. The clothing is often painted in red, and the cloak is green or blue. However, this is simply canonical symbolism; angels are often depicted in garments of other colours (particularly pure white).
Finally, the reference to the celestial essence of angels is typically given by a blue background, clouds, or both.
