Virgin Mary statue with book, Bethléem Monastery, 9 in.
This statue was handmade at the Bethléem monastery from Pyrenean stone and resin. Mary is depicted seated, holding an open book in her left hand while her right hand rests near her chest.
The finishing and painting are done by hand with careful attention to detail; small variations are inherent to artisan production.
