This glazed ceramic Christmas ball captures the essence of Christmas with a rich and luminous decoration. Two lit red candles, embellished with red and white flowers, are framed by holly branches with red berries and green leaves, creating a warm, traditional, and familiar scene. Hand-applied golden outlines enhance each element, providing brilliance and depth to the design.
Each ball undergoes an extensive artisanal process, starting from slip, a liquid clay mixture poured into specialised plaster molds. After drying, the desired shape is achieved, followed by the first firing at 1000°C, solidifying the artifact.
The design is crafted with glossy and non-toxic enamels, completely lead-free, applied by skilled decorators. The ball is then immersed in crystal clear glaze, creating a luminous glassy effect and protecting the decoration. The subsequent second firing at 920°C permanently sets the colours. To complete the piece, 10% pure gold details are added, enhancing the composition and fixed with a final firing at 720°C.
Made in Italy by a historic company specialising in fine artistic ceramics since 1900, this Christmas ball is a small work of art that elegantly narrates the essence of Christmas.
