The Meaning of Priest Stoles in the Liturgy

The priest stole is one of the most important liturgical vestments, symbolizing the priest’s authority and ministerial service. Worn around the neck and hanging down in front, it represents the gentle yoke of Christ that guides the priest in his mission.

During the celebration of the Eucharist and the sacraments, the liturgical stole is a visible sign of the role of the priest or deacon, distinguishing the different ordained ministries.
